Grand Turk

January 28, 2009 - Grand Turk

Never been to the Turks and Caicos but couldn't wait. We knew today was officially a "beach day" and our last port for this leg of the cruise. We had read online on Cruise Critic about "Jack's Shack". Now sure we dock at Margaritaville which is a huge complex but with everyone from the ship there it was packed on the beach and hard to find a chair.

This picture was taken at the end of the day, but earlier all these chairs were filled!

At Jack's Shack we grabbed a chair and table and rented some lounge chairs and ordered a drink!

We brought our snorkel gear (but you could rent some there too) It wasn't too bad, visibility was a little poor but still numerous types of fish.

The pier right near Jack's Shack is where we went snorkeling. Now doesn't this beach look much quieter than the one at the pier?

Man could things get any better?

Colin comforts Bernie because he knows how sad he will be after they head home in two days.

We walked back to Margaritaville and check it out. Great shops, pricey but good selection. The whole area is owned by Carnival and they lease these buildings (which meant the stores on board the ship stayed open).
