Day on the Royal Princess

Since the last time the Royal was in port near our home we had the crew over for a visit, this time it was our turn to visit the Royal Princess.

Bernie and I arranged to also have Bernie's brothers Charlie and Paul and Sister-in-Law Mary the opportunity to check out the ship.  None of them had ever been on a cruise ship and it was something they were interested in.  Also we wanted them to see what it was like for us and why we love it so much.

We arrived at the pier around 9:30 where we checked in with security and boarded the tender to get to the ship.

Just arriving in the Atrium was a surprise for them.  They were quite impressed and they had just seen a small glimpse.

First stop was in Michael's office where Kelly, and Ben met up with us.  We all headed out to Vines where we sad and caught up over coffees and pastries. Captain Draper came over to say hi and joined us for coffee.

We then took the time to show our family around the ship from bottom to top.

In the Horizon Court we ran into Franco who was delighted to see us. It has been one year since we were in Sardinia attending his wedding.  Franco gave us a bit more in-depth tour.

Then he took us to Alfredos for a wonderful lunch where he ensured we were well taken care of.

We even got to see Gabriela and her baby Francesca.  Gabriela use to work in the shops and is now married to one of the officers and is on board travelling with him.

Around 2 we went down to see Dylan in the Medical Bay where he showed the family around the facilities on board.  They were quite impressed.

Since Dylan is getting off soon we went up to Vines and Dylan treated us all to a drink and some great laughs.

Around 3 pm we went in to collect our jackets and say goodbye to Michael and everyone else.  Michael also gets off soon but we will be seeing him in London sooner than we had thought.

As we boarded our tender back to the pier our family thanked us and said how much they enjoyed the tour and that they were quite impressed.

I am not sure if they will ever actually cruise but I do think they got a better understanding of why we love it so much.

We will be back on next week for a visit as guests of Ben.  However many of our friends will be on vacation and at home, we know they are all back in the new year when we join.  And this time I will be a crew too - destination expert.
