Cape Breton Hospitality and the Royal Princess Crew

When we moved to Cape Breton this summer we knew that our favorite ship --the Royal Princess would be visiting Sydney, Nova Scotia this Fall.

Right away we made sure the crew knew we would be there to show them a bit of Cape Breton Hospitality.

It started very early.  Bernie and I bundled up and heading to the point at the entrance of the harbour.  The wind is strong here as you are looking out at the Atlantic Ocean and it is darn cold in October first thing in the morning.

We flew the Cape Breton flag and hoped that at least someone on the bridge would notice us and appreciate the welcome.  The arrow shows where we stood as she came into the harbour.

We arranged for Bernie's two brothers (Paul and Charlie) to meet me at the Sydney pier (about a half hour away) where we met up with Dylan, Ben, Michael, Margaret, Faye, Meghan, Nicole, Kelly, and Sonya.  We divided everyone up into the three vehicles and we were soon at our home.

Bernie and his family were waiting to greet everyone.

we started to get the giggles!!

you might recognize a few of the crew

A great meal of lobster rolls, salad, and a few beverages filled their tummies.

Since Meghan had just celebrated a birthday I made sure to have a cake ready for her.  Of course it had to be chocolate as Dylan is always in search of the best chocolate cake and I had to show him mine.  Needless to say it did not disappoint him.

They had a great time, they enjoyed being away from the ship for a few hours and they loved seeing where we live now.

It was sad to say goodbye but we knew we would see them in a few days when the ship returned to Sydney.

the lovely note waiting for us when we got back home
