We are docked early and boy is it a busy port. The busiest port we have had since we got on
the ship. There are 2 Carnival ships
with us at our pier. The Harmony of the
Seas is at the RCL pier.
It is HOT too!
I really dislike that we have to walk thru the long narrow
duty free shop. And today with three
ships funneling thru the shop it is a mad house! Whoever designed this was nuts. They have
security everyone in the store, I am sure many items get taken here.
We walk thru the pier area, which is really nice. Lots of shops, bars, restaurants, you name it
you can find it here.
For us we leave the port area and get out to the street and
get in a taxi to the Mega store. Cost is $8 total. The ride is about 10 minutes, because the
traffic is so very bad.
The Mega store is huge and has everything, groceries,
clothes, food, booze, toiletries and even a pharmacy. I am looking for my favorite soap – Maja that
is from Spain and I have run out of it at home so I pick up some more.
We then walk all over the downtown area seeing the sights
and enjoying the town. But it is so darn
hot and after two hours we are ready to head back. We get in a taxi and confirm the price before
getting in and yes it was $8.
Back on board we rest for awhile and cool off. It is so warm and humid most of our clothes
are wet and will need to be washed on turnaround.
Tonight we are heading ashore for dinner with friends. We meet on the gangway at 5 pm and exit the
port area – funneling thru the duty free shop again but it is manageable as
two of the ships that are with us are leaving soon.
We get in a taxi again – as there is five us the price is
$12.
The Restaurant Casa Mission came recommended to us and we get
the taxi driver to take us right there.
It is beautiful! The menu is extensive and the service was
perfect, very attentive.
I had the Mexican Platter (that was much much cheaper that
yesterday in Costa Maya).
The whole night was perfect.
We get a taxi back and the pier is deserted and sky is amazing. The ship looks so pretty too.
The ship has an 8:30 all aboard and we are on well before 8.
I love these late night departures.
Tonight is the 24K Gold Deck Party. It is the premier of this deck party. I really don’t feel like going but Bernie does
head up.
He said it was quite good but not very long. The dancers
performed for two songs and he said they were very good.
They also handed out these necklaces that are gold beads
that light up!
I will make sure to attend next week and report back then.
