Bernie's comment when I asked what he wants to say about Rome "It's Old".
We loved staying in an apartment and the Green Apartments certainly met all of our needs. Very good location, enough space for us to feel like we are at home and spread out. The lovely outdoor area was a bonus. Being able to prepare a light breakfast each day and wine/cheese/salami in the early evening gave us some independence from relying on restaurants all the time.
The owner Andrea was very helpful with his personal map and recommendations. The apartment was cleaned daily by Maria, although we never met her, we certainly appreciated all the work she did. Towels/Sheets were changed after three days.
One downside of the apartments is that you hear your neighbours as if they are in the same room as you. Although I am not sure most places in Rome are any different. The people here live on top of each other and it is just part of Rome living.
We liked this area, it is close to many sites and transit is close by. But next time would probably go to a new area to experience that as well.
Even though we had a rough outline of what we wanted to do each day with options of added things. We rarely accomplished it at all. Things took much longer to see and do and then we needed to factor in more time to just relax and rest. Sure we could of pushed it and forced ourselves to do it all but that would of involved not sleeping at all.
Now that we have been here and we have seen the "major" sites - Colosseum, Vatican, Forum, Capital Hill the next visit can focus more on visiting the communities.
We will definately be back.
